FIFA World Cup 2026

The 2026 World Cup will be held from June 11th to July 19th in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The tournament will feature 48 national teams and will be played in 16 modern stadiums.

16:00 BST - Bosnia and Herzegovina coach Sergej Barbarez has explained how he and his players relish the underdog tag they've brought with them to the World Cup.

"We are a small country," ‌Barbarez said. "This is our second-ever World Cup and for ‌sure we are sort of an underdog in many of the matches ahead.

"If ⁠you know our results, I think ‌you have to just admire what we've managed to achieve.

"(I once said) I love this game between ⁠David and Goliath," Barbarez ​said. "We play with our hearts and that has been our advantage."

12:57 BST - The USA are looking to make an impression at the 2026 World Cup - starting with their clash with Paraguay at 02:00 BST - and Christian Pulisic will be the driving force for the co-hosts.

"We want to be a real force in this tournament," he told AFP.

"We've got three really good games to show everyone what we're all about."

11:55 BST - Canada have lost every World Cup fixture in their history, but are going into tonight's clash with Bosnia and Herzegovina with a renewed sense of optimism under manager Jesse Marsch.

10:40 BST - Flashscore had the pleasure of speaking to World Cup winner Vincent Candela ahead of the 2026 tournament. We covered everything from his experience winning the trophy with France in 1998 to how the former full-back thinks Les Bleus will get on this time around.

09:27 BST - Czech Republic coach Miroslav Koubek was unhappy with his side's attacking performance, admitting that the better team won on the night.

"We ‌really made some mistakes but also made opportunities. Our opponent was very fast," Koubek told reporters. "The better team won.

"We had to ‌fight and we did," he added. "Now we ⁠need to move on. We ‌need to be more attacking and creative in the last 30 ​metres. In the attack, we have room for improvement."

09:00 BST - Following South Korea's comeback win over Czech Republic, manager Hong Myung-bo revealed the two messages he gave his players

"Before the ‌match I gave two messages: not give up ​until the end and unite as one," he told a ​press conference.

"Whether on the pitch or not, we need to play as one ⁠team."

08:45 BST - South Africa manager Hugo Broos admitted that he wasn't convinced by the red cards his side received against Mexico:

“I think the first red card (for Sithole), I won’t say anything about. With the second red card, I think the Mexican player fouled my player. But the referee decided something else,” said Broos.

“It is a bit of a pity we had to finish the game with nine players.”

08:15 BST - Stay tuned for some reaction from the first two World Cup fitxures of the summer - starting with Mexico boss Javier Aguirre's thoughts on his side's win over South Africa:

"When you’re starting out the World Cup, of course your legs will shake," Aguirre said.

"Never in 25 years had anyone had any cramps but three of them had cramps today.

"We were in awe when we saw the stadium and they got a little bit of stage fright. But we never suffered. We could have scored four and it would have been completely different.”

04:56 BST - FULL-TIME! South Korea get their World Cup campaign underway with a 2-1 win over the Czech Republic, coming from behind after goals from Hwang In-Beom and Oh Hyeon-Gyu cancelled out Krejci's opener.
