The 2026 World Cup was held from June 11th to July 19th in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The tournament featured 48 national teams and was played in 16 modern stadiums.

12:24 BST - It would be wrong not to revisit the current biggest story, which nearly turned into a great World Cup upset.
World champions Argentina were forced into extra time by African island nation Cape Verde, who equalised twice in the match.
But a Diney Borges own goal in the 111th minute saved Argentina and brought an end to a memorable debut campaign on the world stage for Cape Verde.
