Live updates
00:05 BST - And that's all from us tonight, thanks for joining us. There is one later game with USA taking on Bosnia Herzegovina, and you can follow that match here.
Kick off is at 1am BST.
00:00 BST - Some key stats from Opta...
- Belgium have won after trailing at half-time in the FIFA World Cup for the first time since June 17th, 2014 against Algeria (two games without a win after trailing at half-time).
- Brandon Mechele attempted 130 passes in this game, the highest total for a Belgium player in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
- Youri Tieleman’s winning penalty in the 124th minute for Belgium is the latest goal scored in FIFA World Cup history.
23:58 BST - They couldn't have done it without this man, who scored the goal that brought about extra time, and then scored the penalty that won the game.

23:50 BST - FULL-TIME: That's the end of extra time and Belgium have completed their smash-and-grab! They were losing 2-0 with the 90 minutes nearly up, before goals from Romelu Lukaku and Youri Tielemans brought them level and forced Senegal into extra time.
Then came the penalty, which was heartbreaking for Senegal but certainly not unfair, and Tielemans fired an absolute rocket into the top right corner to send Belgium through. Click here for our report from the game.

23:50 BST - That's a poor effort.
23:49 BST - WOW! Senegal are up in attack again and have won a free-kick on the edge of the area. What a moment this could be...
23:45 BST - What a sickening way for Senegal to lose this - though it's not over yet.
23:43 BST - GOAL! He's scored and that will be that! What a goal it was as well.
23:42 BST - It will be Youri Tielemans to take the penalty. He's over the ball now.
23:41 BST - There's some pushign and shoving near the penalty spot and one of the Senegal players is down. It's an unfortunate end to the game.
23:40 BST - Senegal were the team that walked off when a late penalty was given against them in the Africa Cup of Nations final. Here's hoping we don't get similar scenes today.
23:39 BST - PENALTY! It's given! Belgium will have a penalty to win this game in the depths of extra time.
23:38 BST - Lamine Camara caught the foot of Youri Tielemans as the cross came in. This is a huge call. It could go either way.
23:37 BST - However, VAR is looking at a potential penalty here...
23:35 BST - CHANCE! Oh dear, how has he not scored there? The ball is crossed and ends up at the feet of Dodi Lukébakio, who tries to slot it home but can't quite get over it properly and misses a chance to seal victory.
23:27 BST - CLOSE! After a surging run down the right, Bara Sapoko Ndiaye finds Ibrahim Mbaye with a cut-back, but his placed finish rolls just past the far post.
23:22 BST - Hard to believe this was only a half hour ago.
23:20 BST - HALF-TIME OF EXTRA TIME: Only 15 minutes remain for either of these teams to find a winner.
23:19 BST - Another chance for Belgium there as Nicolas Raskin fizzes one through the area, but none of the onrushing Belgians can get onto it.
23:17 BST - Romelu Lukaku, who sparked the comeback in the first place, had the first chance of extra time as he ended up with the ball bouncing in front on him as he ran towards goal. However, he can't quite control it and get the shot away so Senegal survive.
23:05 BST - We are back under way in Seattle.
23:02 BST - Fifteen minutes ago Senegal were cruising, and in the blink of an eye - or, less than three minutes, anyway - the rug was pulled from underneath them. Who will have the legs in extra time?
23:00 BST - FULL-TIME: There's the referee's whistle which brings an end to the 90 minutes. We will go to extra time!
22:54 BST - Belgium are back on the attack and if not for a poor first touch down the right, may have had a chance to line up the winner there. There are seven minutes of added time here.
22:51 BST - GOAL! Belgium have completed the comeback! They are level! Youri Tielemans leaps up in the box and gets his head to the ball, centimetres in front of the goalkeeper who had rushed out. The ball loops over the despairing Senegalese defence and into the net. Two minutes and 32 seconds was all that separated the two goals.
22:48 BST - GOAL! Hold the phone! Belgium have pulled one back. They pepper the Senegal box, and then they move down the right where a cross comes in that allows Romelu Lukaku to flick home from in front. There's life yet!
22:37 BST - There's 15 minutes of the alloted 90 left for Belgium to rescue their campaign, but in truth they look pretty far away from being able to score once, let alone twice.
22:14 BST - GOAL! Senegal have TWO! Ismaila Sarr was twice denied by the woodwork in the first half, but he's on the scoresheet now, and in emphatic fashion. He makes a superb run to meet an outrageously long pass from Moussa Niakhate, and calmly brings the ball down before firing it into the net with authority. If Senegal win this game, nobody could argue it was against the run of play.
22:09 BST - We are back underway and Senegal already have the first decent attacking chance under their belt. It doesn't end in a goal, but Belgium will have to wake up if they don't want to end up going home early.
21:52 BST - HALF-TIME: There's the referee's whistle to bring down the curtain on the first half. It hasn't been much since the hydration break, but Belgium are growing into this. However, it's Senegal who hold a deserved 1-0 at half-time.

21:46 BST - CHANCE! Maxim De Cuyper gets the ball from a corner and tries to curl one in from outside the box. The shot was near enough perfect, but so was the dive to palm it safely away.
21:44 BST - CLOSE! Jeremy Doku drives down the right and puts in a shot that takes a deflection that could have made things pretty difficult for the goalkeeper. Fortunately for Senegal, the ball loops to their man and he clutches it easily.
21:26 BST - GOAL! Senegal lead and you'd have to say it's fully deserved. Habib Diarra is the man to follow up from a headed flick from Ismaila Sar to poke home and put the African nation ahead. They have been the better team so far, and now they have their reward.
21:13 BST - CLOSE! Oh, so close. Ismaila Sarr gets a gift from an attempted Thibaut Courtois save right in front, but he can't control the ball and the threat is ended. That would have been some start for Senegal.
21:00 BST - And we're off!
20:52 BST - Here come the two teams now. It's an amazing atmosphere in Seattle.
20:40 BST - Belgium, meanwhile, will be hoping to avoid becoming another big side dumped out at this stage of the tournament, following defeats for Netherlands and Germany.
20:28 BST - Senegal coach Pape Thiaw stressed that his side are ready to begin a fresh World Cup against Belgium this evening.
Read all about it by clicking here.
20:14 BST - England midfielder Elliot Anderson says the Three Lions players will soak in their victory before getting back to work.
"It was a tough game. We stuck by each other until the very end, and we got through," he told BBC Sport.
"You look to the big-game players to get us through in the end. We build the foundations and try to get them the ball.
"I think we grew into the game and the first 20 minutes were poor. Their keeper was amazing and the subs made a massive difference.
"We'll enjoy it with fans and then we will get our heads down and get back on it."
19:59 BST - Let's not forget that in a little over an hour we will have another round of 32 clash to bring you as Belgium take on Senegal in Seattle. Here's how the two teams will line up.

19:51 BST - In and amongst all that chaos, Harry Kane has firmly put himself in contention for a Golden Boot race to savour, Flashscore's Joel Barnett writes from New York.

19:42 BST - Anyone ready to relive all that?
19:39 BST - England captain Harry Kane speaking to BBC Sport: "It feels amazing to be honest. What a crazy game.
"They are a tough team and then after that first break we were much better and their keeper made some unbelievable saves. We spoke about people having hero moments and it can be anyone. It was me today.
"We spoke all week about just being ourselves. There are still things to work on for sure and these rounds are just about getting through.
"We are in the part of ther tourament when you have to grind wins out, and that's what we have done today.
"We are the same as every other nation. We are through, so enjoy it. I want them to enjoy it with the fans, and then we go again in four days.
"We spoke after the Croatian game about subs making an impact and you saw that again. Over 90 minutes, we are tough to handle. I am pleased for everyone involved and hopefully we'll keep it going."

19:31 BST - England boss Thomas Tuchel maintains that his side’s belief did not wane during that game.
"We kept believing,” he told BBC Sport.
“We had the worst start possible. First shot, first goal. Then, it became even more difficult.
“After the first water break, we were on top of the game. I think we should have had a penalty. The substitutes came on, and put the effort in, and we won it. Well deserved, but we had to work a lot.
"We have to have that mindset if it is getting hard, it is getting hard, but don't lose patience and don't lose belief.”
Tuchel was full of praise for DR Congo’s undoubted player of the match, goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi.
"The guy was incredible (with) the kind of saves he was making,” the German said.
19:27 BST - The England players are right to celebrate an incredible win, but they will also know they can't afford to be that poor when they face Mexico in less than a week. You can follow that game with Flashscore here.
19:18 BST - Some stats to bring you of the match, courtesy of Opta:
- England have won after conceding the opening goal in the World Cup for the first time since July 30th, 1966 against Germany (13 games without a win).
- Harry Kane's two goals mean he has now surpassed Pele's World Cup goalscoring record, and joint-sixth on the all-time list with 13.
- The Three Lions have failed to score a first-half goal in three of their four games, only South Africa (four) have failed to score more often in the 2026 World Cup.
19:06 BST - Harry Kane has gathered the England players around him in the middle of the pitch. It's unclear whether he's giving them one heck of a telling off, but either way, they will all be relieved to be through.
19:01 BST - FULL-TIME: England have done it! They are through to the last 16 where they will meet Mexico in Mexico City on Monday 6th July at 1am BST. That is a huge result given where things looked to be headed 20 minutes ago.

18:59 BST - It wasn't on target, but it wasn't far off. There will have been a few fans with hearts in mouths.
18:58 BST - With one minute remaining, DR Congo have a free-kick on the edge of hte box...
18:49 BST - GOAL! Harry Kane has surely won it for England now! It looked like the winner was coming, and the captain was prowling on the edge of the box when the ball arrived at his feet. He moved past the defence and fired in a rifle of a shot that beat Lionel Mpasi. Immense relief for England!
18:40 BST - Not a bad name to draw alongside.
18:37 BST - GOAL! England are level! It's Harry Kane who provides the magic! The ball is crossed in and he gets on the end of it to head home with confidence and bring his side back into this round of 32 tie.
18:37 BST - It was not. The England fans are getting audibly restless now.
18:36 BST - England have a free-kick in a handy position. Could this be the moment?
18:34 BST - Eberechi Eze has come on to give England more up front, and Declan Rice has moved to right-back as Djed Spence makes way.
18:33 BST - The hydration break has arrived. England absolutely have to come out firing now, they have no choice.
18:23 BST - Some England changes coming, as Marcus Rashford and Noni Madueke make way for Anthony Gordon and Bukayo Saka respectively.
18:15 BST - CLOSE! TWICE (again)! DR Congo go on the break and would have been through had the ball not bounced off the scrambling English defence. England counter and Marcus Rashford goes all the way down the left and tries to beat the goalkeeper on the near post but the ball hits the side netting. England then go down the left again and Jude Bellingham tries the same thing, with Lionel Mpasi keeping it out this time. The DR Congo goalkeeper has been incredible in this game.
18:08 BST - We are back underway! Can England solve this problem and keep things going for another week?
17:57 BST - England have had all the momentum, but still DR Congo lead this game.
17:53 BST - HALF-TIME: Well, this wasn't in the script for England fans. After taking an early lead through Brian Cipenga, DR Congo have held onto that lead and go into the break 1-0 ahead.

17:51 BST - CLOSE! England go deep with a corner and Harry Kane is free at the back post. He puts in a good strike, but as has been the theme all through the half, Lionel Mpasi blocks the shot. The goalkeeper will have a statue made for him if he can do that for anther 45-off minutes.
17:48 BST - CLOSE! Jude Bellingham fires in another good header, but once again Lionel Mpasi's reflexes are equal to it. He's been the star for DR Congo today.
17:45 BST - There will be six added minutes for England to find a much-needed equaliser.
17:44 BST - PENALTY APPEAL! Harry Kane is clear and gets a touch from the goalkeeper - the England captain goes down in the area. The England players and fans are furious, but after the referee sees no reason to give the penalty, VAR sees no reason to intervene. Two big moments there.
17:42 BST - CHANCE! England were almost two down there! Yoane Wissa is right in front of goal and only has to tap the ball in with no defenders around him, but he can't convert. The ball flies just past the post. Wow.
17:35 BST - CLEARED OFF THE LINE! Noni Madueke gets past his man yet again and puts the ball into the mess in front of goal from close range. The ball is pinged around and then ends up at the feet of Marcus Rashford on the left, and he puts in a shot that is blocked brilliantly by Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Surely DR Congo can't keep England out for much longer?
17:28 BST - CLOSE! TWICE! First England have a free-kick and an inviting cross goes in but Ezri Konsa can't quite control it as the ball goes just past the right post, then Jude Bellingham gets on the end of a Declan Rice cross and fires in a header, but it's straight to the goalkeeper. That England equaliser feels like it's getting closer.
17:26 BST - Here's an Opta stat that won't excite the England fans... England have failed to win any of their last 13 matches when conceding first in the FIFA World Cup, since a victory over Germany on 30th July 1966.
17:24 BST - England fans hate the hydration break, but this one could be their saviour. It gives them all a chance to regather and regroup after a really poor start to the game on the whole. Some moments of good play, but not nearly enough to warrant their tags as one of the pre-tournament favourites.
17:23 BST - We've arrived at the first hydration break and the boos ring out. Are they for the break or for the way England are playing?
17:17 BST - England were growing into the game but then came a nervy little passage of play as sloppy work in the back nearly saw their opponents in with another chance, then Jude Bellingham put in a rash challenge that earns him a yellow card. There's a real need for calm in the England camp right now.
17:08 BST - GOAL! DR Congo have the lead! The cross came in from the right and wasn't gathered by its intended target in the box, but Brian Cipenga was completely unmarked down the left and he cut inside and beat Jordan Pickford from close range. That was far too easy - can England bounce back?
17:01 BST - And we're off!
16:52 BST - The players are making their way onto the pitch now for the anthems.
16:49 BST - It's never easy!
16:34 BST - Kick-off is under 30 minutes away. Can this England team do the business and set up a showdown with Mexico?
16:15 BST - Here's what Opta's live win probabilities say about tonight's match - England are unsurprisingly the favourites.

16:00 BST - Reece James has been named on the bench for England, despite suffering a hamstring injury last week - an unexpected bonus for the Three Lions this evening!
15:48 BST - Harry Kane just keeps breaking records for England this summer! The striker is set to become the Three Lions' most-capped captain of all time with 91 appearances.
15:42 BST - The team news is in for England's fixture with DR Congo - Marcus Rashford retains his place on the wing, while Declan Rice and Noni Madueke return to the side in place of Morgan Rogers and Bukayo Saka. Djed Spence starts at right-back following injuries to Reece James and Jarell Quansah.

12:30 BST - Mbappe has reflected on his brace against Sweden, which took him level in the 2026 World Cup scoring charts with Lionel Messi on six - but he isn't too concerned about catching the greatest of all time.
"We’re trying to win; we’re taking it one step at a time. Of course, the more goals you score, the higher you climb in the rankings - I’m not telling anyone anything new there," he said,
"But I’m also convinced that Leo (Messi) is going to score more goals, so I don’t focus too much on that. I’m more focused on the opponents we might face and how close we’re getting to our goal: the final."

"(Mbappe) is an amazing player, of course," a dejected Gyokeres told Flashscore.

"He's an incredible player."

11:10 BST - Sweden were eliminated from the World Cup last night after a heavy 3-0 defeat to France; manager Graham Potter admitted that even if his side had been perfect, it likely wouldn't have been enough to conquer the tournament favourites.
"The better team won. Congratulations to France. I thought in terms of the game we had to be perfect and even if we were I'm not sure that would have been enough if I'm brutally honest, because the opponent was of a high level," the Englishman said.

"Because he's the greatest goalscorer in the world of football today."
The striker himself added: "This is unbelievable. I can't swear, but it is unbelievable. This is history."
