Chelsea have won their last six games against Tottenham.

There’s been plenty of water under the bridge of late, with scores of new players joining each club and a pair of new head coaches in Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi to do battle.

But the head-to-head record does offer a clear guide as to the contrasting fortunes of the teams in recent years, with Spurs winning just one of their last 36 trips to Stamford Bridge.

Has this set of Tottenham players got what it takes to overhaul that crazy lack of success in West London?

The history boys

The unlikely head-to-head record between Chelsea and Tottenham is a quirk, as much as a guarantor of a Blues victory.

But when think of all the different managers and players that have been involved in the fixture, it looks like there is something of a psychological funk that Spurs find themselves in when making the trip south-west.

Chelsea’s form has been patchy of late, but they boast tremendous goal power – notching 15 goals in their last five outings. If they can shore up defensively, the Blues can be a match for anyone.

They have one of the worst defensive records in the Premier League, but made inroads into improving on that with a clean sheet against Everton in their 0-2 win last time out. Chelsea played with a flat back four and two defensive midfield pivots against the Toffees, and that extra solidity certainly paid dividends.

Tottenham won 3-1 against Coventry on Monday, with all three of their goals coming from shots from outside the penalty area.

But that is not a sustainable route to goal, and while we accept the brilliance of the returning James Maddison, the fact Spurs scored three times from an xG of 0.86 confirms that they haven’t turned a corner quite yet.

Chelsea are a better team than Tottenham right now, have the weight of history on their side and the attacking class to beat a Spurs side that has kept just one clean sheet in five outings.

Tip: Chelsea -0.25 Asian Handicap @ 1/2 (bet365)

Explanation: Our bet lands if Chelsea win this game. If it’s a draw, we lose half our stake. If Tottenham win, our bet has lost.

No love lost

Although geographic rivals of sorts, the hostility between Chelsea and Tottenham really dates back to 2016, when the ‘Battle of the Bridge’ saw a staggering 12 yellow cards shown.

Although relations have thawed somewhat since, this fixture is still liable for aggression and cards: their last three competitive meetings have yielded six, seven and 10 cards respectively. Even an August friendly, supposedly a summer stroll, saw Kevin Danso sent off.

Add into the mix De Zerbi, one of the most combustible head coaches in the Premier League that’s just as likely to be booked as his players, and we have the recipe for another Chelsea vs Spurs card fest.

Tip: Both Teams to Receive 2+ Cards @ 4/7 (bet365)

Explanation: Our bet lands if both Chelsea and Tottenham receive two or more cards (yellow or red).

Putting the boot in

Tottenham average 17.6 tackles per game this term, which is the third-highest ratio in the Premier League, and 13.9 fouls (also the third-highest).

Given the nature of this fixture, it’s hard to imagine those stats falling significantly on Saturday.

As part of their game plan, you can imagine Spurs will want to close down Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers as quickly and as effectively as possible; tackling, rather than passively pressing, Chelsea’s creative duo.

But of those who consistently draw fouls, Chelsea's Moises Caicedo has won two fouls or more in five of his last six Premier League appearances, and averages 1.8 per 90 minutes since the start of the 2025/26 season.

Tip: Moises Caicedo 2+ fouls won 8/11 (bet365)

Explanation: Our bet lands if Chelsea's Moises Caicedo is fouled twice or more.
